Replenish the Quieted Body (revised with commentary)

this Heart dissolves Fire into Life

1) the First Cause

Ripples, thins existence1

I be I
Your black swan

Surrenders its echo
for the inner sound
underground

Outcomes alive splatter
a life’s smattering2

If it does—or was—yet
ill recalls3 the story G-dsent

Seconds

1 The more expounding, the more undiscipline. It’s a self-sabotage not to know how to close and contain. Rippling efforts draw energy away from the core, following the new creature rather than the Source of Creation. Staying a child.

2 A splatter and its smatter come together like a schmear. We begin with a schmear and we shape it. I have to make a mark before I can make an art.

3 JAB: What illness befalls the recall?

RDZC: At our first youthful pretension to intellect we simplify our score. It is our peril of not believing in complexities. Our strangeness and mystery quells us. Pesach exposes the poetaster, the poseur, the sourpuss fermenting into chametz.

JAB: So we burn our arrogance to ashes?

RDZC: And flatten ourselves like matzah.

(2) 86400 (Day On)

Being a slow-sounding
troubadour

United by silence
a shorted deprivance
worth stirring alliance4

This quest of matching
a soul to the whole

Recovering reason to grow and outfall
a disciplined dancing to
chance it all

I met in voice
your5 landed rejoice

Songbird6 enters the haul

You carried purpose
to sacred refrain7

Committed remittance
to encircle the same

4 “Struck by the image of deprivance shorting out. Deprivation as an energetic system which can be sabotaged, or even sabotage itself, into a relaxed dark abundance.” – Rabbi Yonah Lavery-Yisraeli

5 Meeting our beshert is G-d Handing us to each other, Landing us in each other’s orbit.

6 Soul harmonizes melody … melody underscores unending song. The fulcrums in life upon which we seesaw … cease all seize-all.

7 Leading the g’nut (lifeless life) into shavach (limitless love) … the soul is no more solo. Sharing the cornucopia.

(3) Family Inclined

An unconscious settle
derives glory-grace

Supposed, composed,
these flurrieousnesses praise

Manchild, emerge:

Remembers his faith, his
pace, his
graze

His shelter in place

(4) Family Divined

Commence and depart
for suns have shone

A vigoured, lustrous art
rethrones its proem

Your mother remakes you
Your father upheld

You further a vagary
sunstreams compelled

(5) Hearkenings

Righteous Chagall chanter!8
Love direct

But lo unmapped
this gallop vanishes

Saunter-sing a
smiling linger

Banish your past
(untoppler)

The body foundling
in G-d’s ground9
re-pulses
unknown
quivered
prayer

Awakenbreath

8 Karen’s parents had a Chagall — we now have it in our bedroom. One of his floating figures, escapees in their night flights. The airborn man and woman, breathing together, cannot be bound. (Over Vitebsk, 1913)

9 Alivened from the elongated lungs of our inner Adam, the first man in each of us, within reach of us…

  1. Wow Ronnie! I am thrilled to have had to read your amazing work again, this time with your commentary. I LOVE THIS WORK! It speaks so deeply of you, your art, your love, Karen and your family, your vision. I can see why you mentioned that it may be a summit in the process of your art. I’m convinced there are many more powerful stanzas to come. This one reflects true beauty and grace; it should be read and reread, shared and shared again. Bravo Ronnnie.
